TRANSITION 2020

The Education Department has released a new website that helps parents identify their local public school online. Findmyschool.vic.gov.au launched on 24 April and shows every school zone across the state. The new website highlights the choice of public schools available to the Victorian community.

If your child is preparing to enter Year 7 and want to know more about the public secondary school options in our area, or you know someone who is interested in enrolling at our school, try findmyschool.vic.gov.au today.

If you have a question about the website, contact the Victorian School building Authority Hotline on 1800 896 950 or email vsba@edumail.vic.gov.au

All students who are applying to attend Staughton College for Year 7 in 2020 will be notified by their primary school in early August and received an information pack from the college in late August 2020.

As part of the transition process into Year 7, Staughton College tests all students in Year 6. On Demand Testing provides us with valuable information regarding your child’s literacy and numeracy strengths. The information we receive from this testing helps us to determine the appropriate strategies, class groupings and education needs for your child. All students expected at Staughton in 2019 are required to attend ONE of the testing sessions as part of their enrolment. The tests will run for 1.5 hours.  Further information about On Demand testing dates for 2020 will be announced in the information back received by parents in late August.

For all other information regarding enrolment applications, please contact Staughton College on 03 97434622 or via email staughton.co@edumail.vic.gov.au.

Rationale

• The school’s enrolment policy is based on the Education and Training Reform Axt 2008 which

states that students are entitled to enrol at their designated neighbourhood government school.

Aims

• To follow the Priority Order of Placement clause in the DET enrolment policy

Implementation

Students are enrolled at Staughton College in the following priority order:

1. Students for whom the school is the designated neighbourhood school.

2. Students with a sibling at the same permanent address who are attending the school at the same

time.

3. In exceptional circumstances, compassionate grounds (Department of Education process).
