VET and SBAT Information Term 2 Online Learning

Below is a list of all VET and SBAT Programs and information on how the delivery school/provider will run VET in Term 2.

WEC VET Programs

  • Automotive – Educational Living are working on online video learning delivery to accompany theory. Once their model is finalised Carmela will get information out.
  • Electrotechnology – Vic Uni Poly already have online delivery through energy space platform. This will be their method of delivery. I will get these to schools once I have them VU have asked for small classes (up to 5 students at a time) to meet practical requirements
  • Early Childhood TMG have arranged delivery of the course through Canvas (learner material) Microsoft Teams (course work). TMG have stated that they intend to offer immersive practical classes once it is safe to do so.

  • Horticulture MSS are going to run half the group each Wednesday. As they spend a lot of time outside anyway this will work with the social distancing. So one week we will have 7 and the other 7 stay home and complete the set work then they will swap over the following week. No Horticulture Week 1 class will start Week 2. (Heather will be in contact with students for days and times)
  • Building & Construction James Cameron (VET Teacher) has contacted students via email and will be delivering theory work. Email for now but contact is being made so all students can join Google Classroom. Google Online classes will go on as normal and James will be posting items every week they will need to either watch or complete during this time. They will also need to log in to Google Classroom so James can mark the role accordingly.
  • Applied Fashion Julie Read (VET Teacher) has contacted students via email and will be delivering theory work. Email for now with the hope of connecting and moving all students to Google Classroom.
  • Salon Assistance Carolyn delivered training booklets to all WEC schools at the end of last term for the students so that they could complete some work for classes missed end of term 1 and early Term 2. More information to follow from Carolyn as needed.
  • IT We have a One Note Notebook and Teams page setup for this. Students have full access to the IVET portal and the learning materials along with their hard copy of the Workbook.
  • Allied Health Services students have workbooks and an online portal to complete work and assessments.
  • Community Services students have workbooks and an online portal to complete work and assessments.
  • Engineering have workbooks to complete. CRC trainers have been and will be in contact with students via email or Edmodo or iVET portal. All students have been communicated with regards to expectations with remote learning.
  • Plumbing AGA 2 x 40 minute Zoom classes- start of class and after lunch for the VETiS students. Trainers will provide reading and activity tasks in between virtual class times. We will take a screen shot of Zoom attendance and record the sessions. The trainer will be available in between Zoom sessions to take calls or facilitate a private one on one Zoom class. We will concentrate on the practical component of the courses in Term 3.
  • Sport & Rec – See information below
    • 2 Week plan for work completion
    • Due to the unpredictable nature of the coming weeks I have set an outline of work that you should aim to complete over the next two weeks. Use your time effectively to complete the required tasks. I will contact you through notifications through the IVET Portal. Please check this each week to keep up to date with the set tasks. This will ensure that you are set up effectively and with sufficient time to effectively complete this program, despite potential future closures of the schools. Work through the list below:

    • If you did not take your workbook home, the resource is accessible from the IVET portal under resources.
    • Remember it is vital that you regularly check the IVET Portal for communication about future learnings and goals while away from school. Click on the icon in the top right of your screen to check communication from me.

BVC VET Programs CRC Sydenham: VET classes will commence ‘on-line’ Wednesday 15th April and the commencement time of their normal VET classes. Students will not be required to be online for the entire time be it all day or 1:50pm – 5:20pm, however they will be required to be on line and on time for the start of class.

If there are any issues with students not being able to log onto our SMS SEQTA, please let the VET Trainer know and they will forward instructions.

In terms of attendance we will be marking as if in face to face situation therefore if a student is unable to log on for medical reasons or other they are required to advise us through you the co-ordinator, their trainer or myself.
