On Friday the 22nd of May, Staughton students once again made the journey to Werribee to compete in the annual Athletics carnival. The overcast weather didn’t turn away our determined students who came in their droves to support their houses. Students’ participation in the day was fantastic, whether that was by just dressing up to support their houses or by competing in the actual events.
It was a very tight battle all day, with lead houses changing throughout competition. But for the first time in many years, Watts House have delivered a stunning victory to take out the 2015 Staughton Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to Danielle Cooke and her team for taking Watts out of the depths. Final tally was as follows:
Many thanks need to go to the staff who braved the chilly conditions to run various events on the day and to the many staff who came early to the track to set up equipment before students arrived. It is a very large day to organise and to have many staff and students all involved in organising the event it does make for a smooth day!
Students will be notified as to whether or not they have progressed to the next round of Athletics in Term 3.
