Pathways

One of our main goals at Staughton College is to ensure that all students know the options and pathways available to them after they leave the College. We offer strong, supportive guidance coupled with a variety of experiences so that our students can make informed decisions about their futures.

Staughton College has established an extensive list of partnerships with universities around the state, such as RMIT, Federation University, Deakin University, La Trobe University and Australian Catholic University, ensuring our students have increased chances for admission.

We believe it is essential that students are provided access to universities from a young age, especially when, for many of them, they will be the first members of their families to seek out tertiary education. Our year 8 students partake in programs at Staughton College conducted by the universities, designed to get them thinking about their future careers.

In year 9 and 10 we take students to visit a number of university campuses so that they can experience both the academic and social elements they have to offer. Students undertake workshops in a variety of faculties to give them an insight into what a degree in that area might entail. All students in year 10 also undertake a week of work experience in term 3, supported by a unit on Careers and the workforce in their English curriculum.

Our VCE students continue to visit universities in addition to attending Careers Expos. We offer comprehensive assistance to students with their VTAC preferences, seek out scholarship opportunities and guide them through the process of applying. The school is also proud of the SALT, REAP, PPP and SNAP early entrance programs we have established with universities.

Staughton College also offers the VCE Vocational Model as a viable alternative to students interested in Applied Learning. These students have access to Structured Work Placement. Through Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses, we also provide students the opportunity to undertake First-Aid training and attain White Card accreditation so that they can visit work sites.

Staughton College offers an extensive and well-rounded pathways program, designed to ensure that all students are able to pursue their interests and passions
