VCE VM (Vocational Major)

Check out the VCAL Showcase 2021 Here

The VCE VM program is a senior secondary certificate that provides students with literacy, numeracy and practical work-related experience that are valuable skills in their career pathway.

The VCE VM program is a great choice for ‘hands-on’ learners who are interested in going to TAFE, completing an apprenticeship or would like to go straight into the workforce after finishing school.

The VCE VM program has four curriculum areas, called strands. These strands are:

  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Industry specific skills (VET and SBAT)
  • Work related skills
  • Personal development skills.

VCE VM units are designed to develop and assess the skills of students through different strands of the course. Each unit is 100 hours in length and contains accredited learning outcomes that must be completed in order to meet the requirements of the course. The completion of each unit contributes one credit towards the certificate at the appropriate award level.

At Staughton College the Personal Development Skills strand is offered to students via the following electives:

  • Food
  • Music
  • Physical Education
  • Community Practice
  • Art

We encourage all VM and VET students to follow the WEC: Western Edge Cluster facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/Western-Edge-Cluster-2333384896980123/ and visit the VET Western Cluster website: https://www.wec.vic.edu.au/au/
